Politics
Old joke: Politics is like football. You have to be smart enough to understand the game, and dumb enough to think it is important. Well I DO think it is important. Here are my ramblings of a political nature.

I live in Sweden for some reason, and one of the many things Sweden is known for is having the largest taxes in the world. Go Sweden! In Sweden we also have two political blocks that take turns messing up the country every four years or so, just like most countries I guess. Currently the opposition is the left-green block (Social democrates, Left Party and Green Party) and the governing block is the centre-right coalition. Before the last election the social democrats had been governing Sweden for 66 of the last 77 years or so. They are also well known for having found the universal solution to every problem, just like Professor Balthazar. He runs to how machine and pulls a lever, out comes a potion, that solves every problem. The social democrats has pretty much the same idea as a childrens show – one actions solves every problem, theirs are to raise taxes. For. Every. Problem. Ronald Reagan said it best: Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. Ronald Reagan
Do you know what Sweden is NOT known for in the rest of the world? Being the best at anything, especially anything that is the responsibility of our huge tax-funded public sector. We do NOT have the best health care, the best day care for our children, the best education, the best police, the best military, the best universitys, the best elderly care, the best roads, the best justice system, the best energy production system, the best environment control, the best food, the best scientific research, the cleaneast and most beautiful cities, the list goes on. In pretty much every study comparing Swedens tax-funded public sector crap-fest to the same in other countries, we do not come out on top in any regard save one – we pay more for it than any other country! Am I the only one that sees it? Also: Today the left party and the social democrats arrange as usual their may 1st demonstrations all over Sweden. One of the things celebrated by all their supporters is surely the agreement the left-green opposition recently has come to. That will, guess what?, raise taxes! Again! And people is out in the streets thinking this is the greatest thing since slice bread and celebrating this. With large signs that says "We are complete idiots, please take more of my money, I don't know where to put it!" and also "Free money for all, exect the wealthy, well take theirs to give you some". Well, the signs actually don't say that, they say something along the lines of that 90% of the people, especially the ones voting for the left-green, will get their rightfully earned money from the other 10% of the population. How would that work exactly? What we see here is the old quote: A government which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always count on the support of Paul. George Bernard Shaw.
Here is a VENN-diagram that illustrates my point, in Swedish only. Click on the pic above or this link.

I get my political news and commentary about politics in the United States from the same source as most Americans, that is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Up until earlier this year you could watch entire episodes, for free, over the internet, advertising and all. But because there is such a thing as copyright lawyers, or as they shuld be refered to, human stains, alas, this is no more. This service has been blocked for all visitors outside of the US! Don't you think that if people are willing to watch your show, commercials and all, that it might be good idea to let them? Even if they come from that scary place that is outside of US? More links after the jump (klick the "Read more"-button right now!). |

The Swedish Pirate Party has won one seat in the European Parliment. Yeay! I'm very happy about that.
This is big news out there, outside of Sweden that is. If you search international news for Pirate Party you will find 2496 mentions/stories about the Swedish Pirate Party. That is a lot, so this is a big thing. There are almost as many articles in the international press about Christian Engström, freshly elected member of the European Parliment for the Pirate Party, as there are about Fredrik Reinfeldt, Swedish Prime minister. The count is: 1315 vs 1793. Read more here: Nyhetsbrev 2009-06-09 from Rick Falkvinge (in Swedish only) What does the Pirate Party want then? (Click the "Read more"-button). |

As you can see in the top-right corner of this blog it is now adorned with a pretty corner banner. Click that and you will find the page for the swedish political party Piratpartiet, that is running for the European Union parliment in the coming election. There is information in english on the partys page, but you have to look for it.
Would you like the same image for your blog or website, then this is where I got it: http://lillebrorsan.se/piratpartiet-hoern-banner-till-valspurten Also, does the colors in this blog clash? Well, you have lots of colors to choose from. Click the "Open Control Panel" at the top of the page, and make a choice. This choice is saved in a cookie in your browser. Maybe the purple (my favourite color) is good? Click here to change to style 18 (purple) on alltommig.nu: Swedish | English I'm also a member of Piratpartiet and you can be one too, click the banner (it opens a new window)
Also, there is something similar to Piratpartiet in 23 countries in EU and elsewhere, look here: http://www.pp-international.net/ |

Hej FRA!
Hej FRA! Sabba FRA-lagen på www.hejfra.se (This text is a polite protest regarding a really stupid new law here in Sweden, where all communication in email, webb, phone will be stored and monitored, so the text is in swedish only.)
